Going back in time

Last night, Tamara and I went to a roller skating party at the Skateland Roller Rink in Savoy. Seriously, how weird is that? It's like being back in junior high.

We're all experimentalists here...

Scientists show that children think like scientists from PhysOrg.com

Even preschoolers approach the world much like scientists: They are convinced that perplexing and unpredictable events can be explained, according to an MIT brain researcher's study in the April issue of Child Development.

Happy Anniversary!

Tamara and I have now officially been married for one year!

Curiosity versus the cat

Cassie managed to knock over a lit candle and spill melted wax all over herself, Tamara's pants and the desktop's keyboard yesterday. Everyone's fine, but Cassie did not appreciate the bath that followed.

Actually, she really seemed more upset by the bath than the wax.

Flatland

The City ofUrbana recently decided to redo the worst of the brick sidewalks in our neighborhood. Most of the sidewalks had reached a state of near uselessness, especially for the handicapped in the area. Ours got done last week and looks great!

The workers also were nice enough to put down some new gravel on our driveway and pack some of the dirt they displaced into the large rut in front of our driveway. The rut basically became a pond everytime it rained, so this should help a lot.

Maybe next time

Ok, so that didn't work out so well. Maybe my new flight tomorrow morning will actually leave the airport.

I am a pebble in the river.

The drive down from the suburbs last night was truly awful. We couldn't believe how hard it was raining.

Tamara finally got her new tablet pc last Friday. After the untimely death of her acer, we decided to go with an ibm/lenovo x41 this time around. We're hoping it will last a bit longer, it's probalby the sturdiest tablet short of a panasonic tougbook.

I'm off to Baltimore today for the APS March Meeting. I'm not giving a presentation this year, but I think it should still be fun.
