Well, I finally got Tamara's new laptop to connect to my wireless router. I can't believe what a pain it was. After hours of frustration, I discovered that the magic cure was to update the firmware on the router. My laptop had the same problem when I got it six months ago. The router is a Netgear 814 router in case anyone else is having simillar problems, update the firmware to version 5.3 and maybe they'll go away. However, other than it's initial connection issues, the router has been terrific.
